About Us

Edutainment is our specialty

Since Brisbane Arts Theatre's inception in 1936, school groups have been gracing our theatre to study, review and enjoy. Whether it's compulsory coursework, or simply for the love of drama, the Arts Theatre is a sensational outing for student groups. Our seasons are careful constructs of diverse productions, from challenging traditional texts to contemporary Australian works to Broadway musicals.

School groups can see any mainhouse production in our season for only $25* per student, with one complimentary ticket for a teacher per every 10 students. Our exclusive Q&A sessions enable students to pose their questions directly to the creatives involved in bringing a show to life, offering an enlightening insight into the world of the performing arts.

School Groups FAQs

What do I need to tell my students?
It's important for students to understand that our intimate space enables our actors to see and hear every tiny noise and action within the audience. Thus, unless the action calls for a response (e.g. laughter, applause), students should respect the cast and their fellow audience members. All audience members must turn their phones completely off—not just to silent. Photography and recording of all kinds is prohibited under federal legislation (Copyright Act 1968).

Can students take notes?
Students should not take notes during the performance, as this is distracting for our performers and other audience members. Besides, they could miss something pivotal to the plot. Students can take notes at interval and after the show.

What is the age appropriateness of each show?
If in doubt, contact the box office for advice on (07) 3369 2344.
