Our Brisbane Youth Drama Ensemble is an opportunity for young and emerging artists to further develop and fine tune their performance skills. In this performance development programme, the BYDE students will work towards a nationally recognised skillset (CUASS00074) over the course of their studies. Awarded upon completion of BYDE, the nationally recognised skill set provides students with nationally accredited units that can be used in further performing arts studies as RPL (Recognised Prior Learning).
Primarily trained and assessed by our Artistic Director, John Boyce, BA BCA Creative Arts Theatre (Acting) students will explore a multitude of acting and singing techniques, and how they can apply themselves to be a successful performer. Classes will focus on how to succeed in auditions, the acting process and the techniques that come with being a well-rounded performer, as well as monologues, duologues and script work.
BYDE graduates will also leave the course with a professionally made stagecraft showreel and portfolio headshots.
Performance Opportunities
Students will have the opportunity to perform at the student showcase at the end of terms two and four, allowing them to display the skills they have gained from the course to friends and family. Brisbane Arts Theatre is an active performance venue and an iconic theatre company in Brisbane. Aside from the two student showcases, each year, we stage successful Children’s Theatre and Mainhouse seasons that we encourage our BYDE students to audition for.
