The Pillowman

18 May to 8 Jun

Dark, twisted, and utterly unforgettable, The Pillowman is a challenging piece of theatre. Its gruelling content is both appalling in nature, and macabre in its humour.

Katurian, a writer, is being interrogated by two detectives in an unnamed totalitarian dictatorship. The detectives want to know why Katurian's stories feature gruesome plots about child murder and torture, and in particular, why they seem to mirror a string of recent homicides in the area.

The Pillowman is a brutal dark comedy, posing a number of unanswerable questions: can stories hold the power to cause atrocities? Where is the line between truth and fairy tale? Is a life of horror worth living at all?
