COVID-19 Info

Can Brisbane Arts Theatre re-open?

We sure can! We’ve been operating under the Stage Queensland COVID Safe Industry Plan, and ensuring our compliance. Following the recently announced easing of restriction on live performance and theatre venues in Queensland, we can operate at 100% capacity once again!  We’re incredibly excited to be returning to a sense of normalcy, and our staff are working hard to understand what this means for current and future events.

For any questions or queries regarding COVID-19, please send an email to our Risk Mitigation Coordinator (jordan@artstheatre.com.au).

What should I keep in mind?

As exciting as it is that we can operate at 100% capacity, we ask you to please keep in mind that it is our community’s responsibility to ensure we are doing everything we can to keep our patrons, staff and volunteers safe. Although there are no active cases in Queensland at present, we should continue to do what we can to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Do I need to wear a mask?

The Chief Health Advisor, Jeannette Young, has advised that patrons should wear masks upon entry and exit to the venue, while visiting public restrooms within the venue, and when purchasing food and drink. You’re welcome to remove your mask when seated inside the venue, or can keep it on for the duration of the performance – the choice is yours! Our staff and volunteers will be wearing masks when in contact with the general public.

What can you do to ensure a smooth and easy visit?

  • Arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before the show begins, and do not linger in the courtyard or outside the venue if you can help it.
  • Keep an eye on your young theatre lovers and ensure you do not allow them to run around unsupervised.
  • Please do not attend if you have been feeling under the weather, experienced flu-like symptoms or have travelled overseas in the last two weeks. Our staff will be taking temperatures and offering you hand sanitiser at the door. In the event that you have a fever, or find you are unable to attend due to sudden illness; a full refund will be available.
  • Be respectful to our staff and volunteers. We understand that some of the restrictions in place can be frustrating and confusing, but all policies have been put in place to ensure the safety, comfort and well-being of our community. Any disrespect, violence or rudeness towards the Brisbane Arts Theatre personnel will not be tolerated and will result in the patron being blacklisted from the venue.
